The time has come for America to think of adopting changes in its Mideast policy on nations like Palestine and Israel. A lot of the people in America are opposed to the unconditional support of the American government to the activities of the Israeli government regarding the Palestinians. They feel it has damaged the image of USA to the Mideast nations.
Reasons why America’s Mideast policy on Israel should be changed
This has also given the Islamic fundamentalists forces the weapon to portray a negative image of USA in the Islamic world. As a matter of fact the money the residents of USA pay as tax goes after the dispossession of the Palestinians continually. It is high time for USA to put a stop to its support of Apartheid in Israel. This is what denies the fundamental rights to the residents of Palestine. Some people feel that the aid given to Israel should be stopped. This will force it to join the bandwagon of democratic nations. Its armed expansions into Palestinian region should be stopped.
It is quite lamentable that the Christian and Muslim Palestinians driven from their homes in 1948 in Israel are denied citizenship in Israel. This is where they grew up. The same thing is applicable to their descendants. They have been compelled to spend their lives in refugee camps in other countries. On the contrary, a Jew no matter where he is born can obtain citizenship in Israel without any hiccup.
The Israeli invasion of Palestine is against the preface to the UN Charter that restricts countries from acquiring territory by means of war. Apart from that the actions of the Israeli government in West Bank are against the Fourth Geneva convention. It bans the transfer of populations from or to such occupied regions. The West Bank has Israeli-only roads that are prominent features of apartheid policies. Such policies have been imposed in Palestine by the Israel government. The Palestinians are not allowed to drive on these roads.
It seems shocking to imagine what could happen to America if an Israeli-style democracy was implemented in the country. All the Jewish people would be kept to enclaves. The properties of the Jews would have been confiscated. Their houses would have been demolished. In their places high-rise apartments for the Christians would have been built.
The lives of the American Jews would have been turned into hell. They would have suffered from 50% unemployment rate. Around four fifth of the Jews would become destitute. The UN resolutions regarding treating the Jews would have been violated grossly. The Jews would have been kept isolated from the other residents and the law would try to acquire their properties. The harassment of the Jews would have spread to the professional life and workplace as well. In such a democracy a Jew would have been shown the door by his employer for uttering a Hebrew phrase. Intercaste marriages will become a nightmare. All the aforesaid things are done in Israel with the tax money of the American people and hence it needs to be stopped.
